Obituary of Gayle Karen Von Ahsen

Please share a memory of Gayle to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Gayle Karen von Ahsen,77, of Belleville, N.J., lovingly known as GeeGee by family, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 29, 2024.

Born in Plainfield, N.J., to John Henry and Olga (nee Ximenez), on January 19, 1947. She moved to Pennsylvania for college and graduated from the Easton Hospital School of Nursing in 1971. Gayle began her long career as a Registered Nurse at Easton Hospital, before transferring to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in 1980, where she worked in the Operating Room for over 40 years.

Gayle was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She was, without a doubt, the best chef in the family, with many of her recipes stealing the show at any holiday gathering, including her infamous chocolate cake, cranberry relish, and stuffing. She was a night owl who loved to cook, find the perfect gifts for loved ones, travel across New England and Europe, and adored cats and dogs. Gayle was a quiet soul with a giant heart, and if you ever needed help, she was there.

Gayle is survived by her sister Audrey Neiman, her niece Sara Deni (William), nephew Blake Neiman (Emily), her great nieces Siena, Olivia, Amelia, and Adeline, and her great nephew Luca. Gayle is predeceased by her parents John Henry and Olga, and her brother-in-law Alvin Neiman
